Group seminar at LMU and Zoom: Atom-Photon Entanglement Distribution in a Quantum Link between LMU and MPQ

In this talk, I present the distribution of atom-photon entanglement between the distant laboratories of Prof. Weinfurter at LMU and Prof. Rempe at MPQ. I discuss the experimental setup and a theoretical model of the distributed entangled state, comparing its predictions with the experimental results. This demonstration represents a step toward a fully functional quantum link with two ⁸⁷Rb atoms, one in each laboratory. In the long term, such a link contributes to the development of a quantum internet, while in the short term, it enables experiments in quantum communication, teleportation, and fundamental physics.
